Words Seaside Sue, Publisher & Owner
January often gives me a moment to breathe – not because everything magically becomes easier, but because everything seems to quiet down just enough for us to hear ourselves again.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how kindness shows up in the world. Not in big, dramatic gestures, but in the small ways people choose to treat one another.
Maybe it’s the pace of life, or maybe I’m just a little more tired this year, but I’ve noticed how much those everyday acts of gentleness matter. A warm greeting, a bit of patience, someone taking a moment to really see you – those things lift us in ways we don’t always admit.
And then there are the small joys that help carry us through. Many of you know my puppy, George, who somehow turns two this January. He has a talent for reminding me what’s good: a wagging tail, a silly moment, a reason to smile even when the world feels a bit sharp around the edges.
As we move into this new year, my hope isn’t for grand change. It’s simply that we look for ways to soften our days – for ourselves and for each other. Community is built one interaction at a time, and I still believe deeply in the goodness found here.
Thank you for being part of Seaside and walking another year with us, and for helping shape a place where kindness, connection and real stories matter.
