Words Seaside Sue, Publisher & Founder
I’m not quite sure how to put into words the feelings I have as I write this, but the photo above says so much of what is in my heart. It represents more than a celebration – it represents a legacy, one that I know will continue on with care, passion and purpose.
On June 1, Allison officially became the sole owner of Seaside, while I will continue on as Publisher through the remainder of the year. It is both emotional and incredibly meaningful to reach this moment. Allison has been with me from the very beginning. Through every issue, every deadline, every event and every challenge, she has been by my side, steady, dedicated and always willing to give her whole heart to this magazine and this community.
There is something very special about knowing that something you built will continue to grow with someone who truly understands its spirit. Seaside has never just been a business to me – it has been about connection, storytelling, community and celebrating the people and places that make this Peninsula so remarkable. It’s also been my family.
I could not be more proud or more grateful knowing Allison will carry my legacy of Seaside with the same integrity, warmth and love that has guided it from the beginning. Watching the next chapter unfold feels less like an ending and more like a beautiful continuation of everything Seaside has always stood for.
And while this chapter is evolving, I’m certainly not going far. I’ll still be writing First Word, still out in the community, and still finding ways to connect with the people and places I care so deeply about – whether that’s working at North Saanich Canadian Tire, spending time at Butik, supporting community events, or perhaps discovering new adventures along the way. After all these years, community has become part of who I am, and that will never change.
