Time to just do it!
There is now no excuse for not joining a gym. Anytime Fitness has recently opened in the former 7-Eleven and is literally open “anytime”. The new 24-hour studio is in a convenient location on the corner of Beacon Avenue and Resthaven Drive.

What’s a dojo?
Hastings Martial Arts is opening a new dojo (martial arts school) on Mills Road. Owner Cory Hastings has been a member of Puckett’s Noble House of Karate since 1990 and has been offering classes out of Puckett’s for the past four years. However, Hastings has outgrown the facility and has purchased a new space at 1670 Mills Road.

Make your bed and lie in it
Sidney Mattress and More has a new home! You can now find them at Unit 1A – 2353 Bevan Avenue. They carry a wide range of mattresses, adjustable beds, chest beds, trundle beds and can even create custom mattresses for RVs and boats.

The show will go on
After 21 years, the Star Cinema has moved to a new temporary home at 9824 Fifth Street. Over the next 2.5 years, Casman Properties will be constructing a six-storey, mixed-use building on the property on the corner of Third Street named The Cameo. The Cameo will include a new 7,500-square-foot Star Cinema with three screens below the 50 condominiums on the upper floors.

The popular Chuck’s Burger Bar at 2031 Malaview Avenue in West Sidney is for sale. The owner would like to see the restaurant remain a Chuck’s Burgers and is willing to work with the new owner. When the cows come home
Country Bee Honey Farm has added a dozen new four-legged friends to the mix, having partnered with Sluggett Farms to raise cows! The Country Bee kids and Bobby Sluggett’s children will help care for the animals that will be fed on whiskey mash from Devine vineyards.

Picture perfect
A new Photographers Gallery in Sidney is the brainchild of Alan Kohut who opened the gallery with the intention of providing a physical space where “talented Canadian and international photographers are able to showcase, display and market their creative photographic works.” Check it out at #1 – 2449 Beacon Avenue.

The Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is hosting its always popular Tour of Industry on January 31. The day-long tour takes people to businesses around the Peninsula for an in-depth look at an interesting selection of local businesses that showcase the diverse nature of industry here on the Peninsula. Introducing Lulu
The long-awaited grand opening of Lulu’s took place on November 23. Lulu’s is located on the ground floor of the new Aranza building at 9824 Fourth Avenue in Sidney. Lulu’s is a Reggio-inspired daycare for children aged infant to five years old.
