Have you discovered a charming little farm stand on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands? A new coffee table book is celebrating the people, places and stories behind these special roadside treasures.
Travelling by RV with her dog, Frankie, Janis Jean is exploring Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, discovering farm stands, photographing the unique character of local farm stands.
Deborah Rogers is interviewing the people behind them, bringing their stories to life for the book. From produce and flowers to baking, honey and handmade treasures, they’re celebrating simple roadside stands where the trust is part of the experience.

Radio Sidney Moves Closer to the Airwaves!
Radio Sidney is one step closer to becoming a local FM voice! Sidney Town Council has unanimously endorsed the station’s low-power FM licence application, and the application has now been submitted to the CRTC. The station says it could provide a trusted local voice as well as an important tool for emergency communication for the Sidney community.
One Heart at a Time
More than 800 heart-shaped boxes have been completed for the third annual fundraiser in support of the Sidney Lions Food Bank. A special thank you to two very special little elves, Rosemary and Alice, who helped fill each one!
The boxes will be available for purchase beginning November 1 at Will & Wheel Hair Salon in Sidney, and in Langford at Babies & Bliss. The season will finish at the Last Chance Craft Show in Sidney from December 11 to 13.

Bouncing onto the Saanich Peninsula!
The Peninsula Community Pickleball Club (PCPC) is launching a community-wide initiative to fundraise and build a public, tournament-grade eight-court pickleball facility on the Saanich Peninsula.
This facility is designed to serve the increasing community demand for year-round pickleball facilities on the Peninsula. PCPC is seeking a partnership with the Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) to secure a land lease for the project building site with official announcements and more details coming soon. This month’s Food Bank Needs
Food banks provide more than groceries, and help families access the everyday essentials many of us take for granted.
This month, the Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank is especially in need of personal hygiene products, including shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, shaving cream and razors. On the food side, canned proteins, peanut butter, school snacks and baking mixes are also greatly appreciated.
