A Place for Gathering and Connection
The age-old saying that the kitchen is the heart of the home undoubtedly still rings true. There is no other room in the home that sees as much action as the kitchen. From early childhood days spent baking with a parent to nourishing your loved ones, sharing coffee and treats with friends, helping children with homework or grabbing a quick breakfast with your partner at the island, it all happens in the kitchen. It is a space where lasting memories are created, and where everyone can pause and connect, even briefly. It is the central hub of the home, and designed to bring families together.
So what better space to make inviting, accessible, organized and beautiful?
Function for Your Family
“If you can organize your kitchen, you can organize your life,” said Louis Parrish.
People increasingly seek kitchens that work for their specific needs. Small kitchens can be a challenge, but finding the perfect insert for a tight corner or a pull-out to access spices, oils and knives makes a significant difference. Many opt for appliances with multiple functions, or ranges with two ovens in one, with additional burners. Creative solutions can help any
space function better.
The Dream of a Large Kitchen
“Happiness is a small house with a large kitchen” – Alfred Hitchcock.
A spacious kitchen is a dream for many. If room allows for an island, it remains one of the most desired design features. Islands offer additional seating and create a separate workspace from the main cabinets. Frequently, a sink is installed in the island, turning it into a social centerpiece that allows you to stay engaged with family and guests while working. Many opt to use island seating for daily meals instead of traditional tables. Islands are designed to be as large as the space permits, accommodating as many seats as possible. Additional storage can be gained by extending cabinetry to the ceiling – even if the highest cabinets are less accessible, they provide room for items used less frequently which is a real bonus!
The Secret Ingredient
“The secret ingredient is always love.” … and great design!
If you’re thinking about a new kitchen, working with a designer can make the process seamless and enjoyable. You can take advantage of their up-to-date design trend knowledge, space planning awareness, familiarity with the best inserts and ability to create beautiful and useful spaces. Preparation is key! If you have concrete ideas you want to be incorporated into your space, whether it be certain appliances or styles, be open and let your designer know. They want to leave their clients with a kitchen they love, work and spend time with family in, nourishing their souls and bellies!
