This year our self-guided tour of greater Victoria’s gorgeous water gardens includes a beautiful home in Deep Cove, with fabulous gardens and a unique water feature surrounded by a concrete deck at the back of the home. Taking place Saturday July 11, from 9.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m., there is something for everyone on this tour.
The Deep Cove home is a homeowner opening their garden and water feature for the tour. The homeowner works on the acreage daily and has done a magnificent job of creating a dream-garden. The plantings are incredible.
Tickets are $25 and will be sold at most major garden centres as well as online. See www.watergardentour.ca for a list of garden centres, or call 250.891.0762 for details.
Enjoy the ambiance of the gardens while viewing some varied water features. Water gardens are environmentally safe, chemical-free and require no watering or cutting of grass. The movement of water emits purifying negative ions into the air and the water feature attracts birds and other wildlife. Volunteers will be at each garden. This year’s tour will showcase artistic creations of eminent water garden designers. Meet with them in person and ask any gardening questions you may have. Our tour includes designers submitting gardens as well as homeowners proudly showcasing their gardens to the public.
Master gardeners will be present at two gardens on the tour and musicians will play at many gardens. Refreshments will be served at one of the gardens.
All proceeds will go to the ‘For the Love of Africa Society’ for our trade-school project. ‘For the Love of Africa Society’ is building a trade school in Tanzania; Dodoma Technical Institute. A team of volunteers will be travelling to Tanzania in the fall to complete work on the first building. Objectives of the school are to provide technical, vocational and trade skills to enable youth to become entrepreneurs and improve their social and economic standard once they complete their schooling. View our website www.fortheloveofafrica.ca for more information on our valuable projects.
By purchasing tickets to attend gardens on the tour you are helping youth in Africa … a win – win for all!
