There is a reason why Sidney Casuals has been a local fixture for over three decades. It comes down to the basics. Wayne Whitlock founded the business 32 years ago, calling it “Sidney Men’s Wear.” Ladies’ wear was added around eight years later; 17 years ago they moved to their present location at 2513 Beacon Avenue as Sidney Casuals with an expanded selection of women’s wear. The present owner, Sue Taylor, enjoyed her part in the business legacy with her late husband, Wayne. It is one of the largest clothing stores in Sidney with over 5,000 square feet of retail space on two levels.
Sidney Casuals has a wide selection of both male and female apparel for adults. Sue describes her product as “quality casual clothing”; they carry reputable, premium quality brands. Her clothes for both sexes are ‘wearable’ and classy. To serve Sidney globetrotters, Sidney Casuals sells lightweight durable clothing perfect for the smart traveller who wants less to pack and ‘wash ‘n wear’ convenience. Certain core wardrobe basics never go out of style; Sue is proud that her store offers those classic elegant slacks and sweaters that women always love to wear. Many men still enjoy showing off their attractive cardigans, always fashionable and distinctly sexy.
Sue Taylor and her staff put a high priority on kind, respectful customer service. If they are out of a product or a size, they make a special order for a customer. The art of spending time with people is alive and well: Sue considers it an honour to help a senior find the perfect outfit. Staff treat customers with honesty. If Sue makes a promise to a patron, she keeps it.
The affable owner is very excited about their new Spring line being featured at the end of January and into March. The new fashions for Spring will dazzle the eye with fresh bright colours and beautiful fabrics. Plus there will be ongoing sales for their Winter stock.
A long-standing retail legacy in downtown, Sidney Casuals continues to radiate the overall experience of our small seaside town: a class act served up with a smile and a lot of heart.
