Nicole Wilford: Finding Your Way Home

– by Linda Hunter –

This is part of a rotating series of articles on members of Sidney Meet Up Women’s Networking Group, featuring women in business on the Saanich Peninsula.

If it’s Saturday morning, chances are that Nicole Wilford can be found in the woods, hiking along a path less traveled and surrounded by friends. For as long as she can remember, the outdoors has been her favourite place, one she knows well, on an Island where she is grateful to live and work. During the week, Nicole often moves indoors, working in her Sidney Slegg office on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in her home office the remainder of the week.

As a member of the Slegg Mortgage Team and Dominion Lending Centres, Nicole spends much of her time helping others find their way home, working with clients to navigate the very best solution to meet their home purchasing needs. Working with the Island’s own Slegg Mortgage offers Nicole a unique partnership opportunity which in turn affords her access to the very best mortgage rates and secured line of credit options for her customers. With recent industry changes and current economic conditions, Nicole is also pleased to be able to offer the Purchase Plus Improvements Program, which allows borrowers to make immediate renovations, a bonus for those who have found the “house” but may need a little help in creating the “home.” Her philosophy, one based on honesty and integrity, has Nicole searching out the right fit for each and every client, based on their unique and specific requirements. And, because she works where she lives, Nicole spends her time in many of the same places that her clients do; she knows and understands her Island. For those clients for whom Victoria is a better meeting place than Sidney, Nicole is pleased to be mobile, making her way downtown to provide service and for meetings in the new DLC – Slegg Mortgage head office, located at Douglas and Alpha Streets.

Whether it’s with her hiking friends or her clientele, Nicole is always busy building community, and nowhere is this more evident than in her relationship with the Sidney Meet Up Group. As a partner to the founder, Cheryl Young, Nicole is thrilled with what this group offers to a growing group of business women on the Saanich Peninsula: connections, friendship, networking and business opportunities, support, education and celebration. There is always a workshop or social event in the works, a blog filled with business information (www.sidneymeetup.worldpress.com) and plenty of pictures of their events gracing the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SidneyMeetUp.

There are many ways to connect with Nicole outside of the office: call 250-686-2927, email nwilford@dominionlending.ca, or connect with her via social media at www.facebook.com/nicolewilford1, on Twitter: @Nicole_Wilford, and at LinkedIn: Nicole Wilford.
