Farm, Food, Fundraiser A Tasty Summer Afternoon

Toast to the Coast is a celebration of all the wonderful food and drink this Island produces! On July 26 from 1 to 4 p.m., guests will be welcomed with a glass of bubbly and invited to wander around the beauty of Kildara Farms (11293 Chalet Road, North Saanich) while tasting the very best offerings from local caterers, restaurants, distilleries, breweries and wineries.

Find something you love? Many of the participants will have some of their delicious products available for you to add to your pantry or cellar! Sip and savour your way through one of the Island’s most beautiful organic farms, overlooking the stunning Saanich Inlet. Local ingredients combined with creative presentation will have your mouth watering and picking a new favourite restaurant by the end of the afternoon.

Toast to the Coast is a fundraiser for the Saanich Peninsula Hospital and Healthcare Foundation. This is its third year and promises to be bigger and better than ever, with amazing local music, new food and beverage vendors and an upscale garden cocktail lounge! Nickel and Lira, the intrepid party goats, will be on hand trying to steal your samples and eat the gardens while posing for pictures.

Delicious highlights from past years include amazing coconut gnocchi from Kinu, handmade ravioli with farm-raised braised ham from Food For Thought, and incredible cocktails infused with healthy herbs (every little bit helps!) from Holocene Distillery. Best Coast Distillery will be back with their scrumptious flavoured whiskey and some new releases, and our wonderful neighbours Deep Cove Winery will be showcasing their Queen series of wines which are truly exquisite. Local foodie artisans like Elk and Tide wowed people with their line of dressings and sauces which guests got to experience while they noshed on beautiful salad with local cheese, berries and greens picked that morning on Kildara Farm!

Lounge areas and games are thoughtfully laid out throughout the property so guests are encouraged to slow down, relax and soak up the beauty and abundance that surrounds us every day on this Island. It is truly a delightful way to spend a Sunday afternoon! We are welcoming many new faces this year and are looking forward to Eurosa Farms, which will be sponsoring a new, interactive floral display; you might even learn a thing or two and can go home full and a borderline genius! We couldn’t do this without our amazing sponsors – Ruby Tuesday’s Laundry, Simply Pure Ice & Water, Michell’s Excavating, Edible Magazine, Seaside Magazine and of course our host, Kildara Farms’ Daphne Hughes.
