Personal Safety Seminar

Whether at home or away on vacation, working alone or venturing out in the evening, personal safety is always a priority. We have all experienced the feeling that someone is watching or we’ve been in a strange city unsure of our surroundings or even lost and wound up in a less desirable area.

This seminar, presented by Sidney Meet Up Womens Networking Group and the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, is for everyone from students to seniors, and of interest to business owners in order to train staff who may be alone at work. The more you know about protecting yourself and the people you care about, the better.

Attendees will learn steps to ensure their safety and be given tips on prevention. The most important thing in any of these situations is to be aware of your surroundings.

Presenters include The Sidney and North Saanich RCMP and the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department in conjunction with BC Ambulance and will include a “bonus” demonstration from Puckett’s Karate.

The Personal Safety Seminar takes place March 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sidney Fire Department (9837 Third Street, Sidney). Cost is $30 and includes a light snack and hot and cold beverages. A portion of all ticket sales will go to the Sidney Lions Food Bank. Please RSVP through cbythesea@shaw.ca or 250-516-7653.
